The Kromme Nolkering is a floodgate located in the Heusdensch Canal between Heusden and Wijk en Aalburg. The lock was completed in 2002, after very high water levels occurred in 1995 and it became apparent that the dikes along the Heusdensch Canal and the Afgedamde Maas provided insufficient protection. The barrier is closed at a water level of 3.42m +NAP, so that the water level in the Afgedamde Maas does not exceed 3.50m +NAP. The Water Board Rivierenland is the owner and manager of this barrier.
