The Castle of Well or House of Malsen is a water fortress of the village of Well, in the municipality of Maasdriel in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The castle, which is privately owned, is located on the inner side of the dike along the Meuse River; the Meersloot flows into the moat.
The castle Well probably dates back to the 14th century with the construction of a residential tower at this time. The walls of this tower and the extension containing the entrance have a thickness of about one meter. Little is known about the inhabitants of this castle. In the disaster year 1672, the castle was heavily damaged by French troops. In the 19th century, the round corner tower was added. In 1884, the castle was expanded with a new front building featuring battlements. Finally, in 1934, a drawbridge and gatehouse were added to the house. The bridge displays the coats of arms of Ammerzoden and Gelre.
