The Municipal Sports Park Kaalheide is a football and athletics stadium in the Kaalheide district of Kerkrade, the Netherlands. The Municipal Sports Park Kaalheide is known as the stadium of football club Roda JC. Up to and including the 1999/2000 season,
Roda JC here all matches.
The Kaalheide Municipal Sports Park was built in 1946 and opened in 1952. During its heyday, the Kaalheide Municipal Sports Park could accommodate almost 25,000 spectators. On 14 May 2000, Roda JC played its last official match in the Municipal Sports Park Kaalheide. Roda JC won against AZ with 3-2 in front of about 10,000 visitors.
Nowadays there are still (international) athletics competitions
organized. In addition, Roda JC still carries out a lot of work at the Municipal Sports Park Kaalheide, since a few years Kaalheide has been transformed into a training complex.
Jong Roda JC, the reserves and the youth teams of the Roda JC Football Academy complete their training sessions and matches here. From the 2014-2015 season, the first team will train in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium.
