The Loetbos is a forest established in the 1950s in the Krimpenerwaard region of South Holland. It covers approximately 170 hectares and stretches over a length of ten kilometers along the centuries-old peat river, the Loet. The Loetbos is owned by Groenalliantie Midden-Holland and is managed by Staatsbosbeheer.
The province of South Holland has used the area over the years as a testing ground for nature management. The old parceling was maintained. It is planted with native tree species that thrive in the low peat area. There are various species of willows, alders, and poplars. Marshes and ponds have been created, forest grazing is applied, and meadows have been stripped of their fertilized top layer. Constructed filters naturally improve water quality. A part of the Loetbos is designated as a quiet area.
