The "Theater Heerlen", formerly known as "Stadsschouwburg Heerlen" is the largest theatre of Heerlen and the agglomeration "Parkstad Limburg", which was designed by Frits Peutz and opened in 1961. Since 1999 it is part of the group "Parkstad Limburg Theaters" together with "Theater Kerkrade". Both theatres share one programming which is split across the two buildings.
In spring 2007 the theatre reopened its doors after a three year rebuilding period. The building now has a large hall (RABOzaal), a small hall (INGzaal) and a medium hall (LIMBURGzaal). The theatre collaborates amongst others with Cultura Nova, a yearly 10-day bordercrossing summer event.
