The Austieberg is a hill in the Twente municipality of Losser in the Dutch province of Overijssel. The summit, located at an elevation of 55 meters, lies south of Beuningen. The hill is part of the northern section of the Enschede-Oldenzaal hill ridge complex, which also includes the 85-meter-high Tankenberg. This hill ridge complex was formed during the Saale glaciation. The ice has laterally pushed away the frozen substrate, consisting of Tertiary marine sediments and Pleistocene deposits, stacking them like large shingles. Much of the Pleistocene deposits have eroded away, exposing the Tertiary material at or near the surface today. The entire hill ridge complex contains remarkable elements, such as Tertiary deposits and periglacial valleys, making it of great geological and geomorphological value.
