The Roman Catholic cemetery St. Laurentius is a Roman Catholic cemetery in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. The cemetery is located on Nieuwe Crooswijkseweg in the Rotterdam district of Kralingen-Crooswijk and is dedicated to Saint Lawrence of Rome. Since 1827, the deceased were no longer allowed to be buried in churches. As a result, the Roman Catholics in Rotterdam no longer had their own cemeteries in the city. In 1864, the Diocese of Haarlem received permission from the Municipality of Rotterdam to establish the then-outdoor estate Groenendaal in Crooswijk as a Roman Catholic cemetery. The estate Groenendaal was owned by the Tholen family, who bequeathed it to the diocese. On October 18, 1867, the first deceased person was buried here.
