The Oostvlietpolder was drained by the Oostvlietmolen and was created by merging the Vlietpolder with the Hofpolder. The polder was bordered in the north by the Rhine-Schie canal, in the east by the Vrouwenvaart, in the south by the Meerburger wetering and in the west by the Vinkesloot, which has now disappeared into the Vlietland recreation area. The Hofweg, which also disappeared, formed the border between the two polders. Until the annexation by Leiden in 1966, the area belonged to the municipality of Zoeterwoude.
