The Peilmolen in Oud-Alblas, in the Dutch municipality of Molenlanden, was built in 1818 to drain the Zuidzijderpolder. The mill that replaced a seesaw mill that burned down in 1817 was a sounding mill or signal mill until 1881, that is, this mill indicated the level by means of signals to other mills in the area. An iron paddle wheel with a diameter of 5.90 meters grinds the water from the polder. In 1971 the mill was officially decommissioned. The Peilmolen is inhabited and cannot be visited. Since 1968, the Peilmolen has been owned by the SIMAV.
