The Willem Vroesenhuis is an old men's home in Gouda founded by Willem Willemszoon Vroesen the Elder in 1555. The house is located at the corner of Molenwerf and Spieringstraat in the city center of Gouda.
In 1555, Willem Vroesen decided to make his house and estate available for the care of old poor men in the city of Gouda. Willem Vroesen belonged to a group of prominent citizens of the city who held important positions. One of his granddaughters, Adriana Vroesen, later married the Gouda mayor Pieter Wouterszoon Crabeth, son of the famous stained glass artist of St. John's Church, Wouter Crabeth. As early as 1537, Willem Vroesen and his wife Machtelt Voppendochter made a significant sum of money available to distribute bread to the poor during the winter.
