The Schoonhovense Waag is a historic building. For the first time the city had a weigh house in 1356, and that was used by the citizens, especially to weigh flax and hemp products. These were widely cultivated crops for centuries, for instance for making fabrics and rope. There is still a scale from 1662 present.
The building was lost in 1518 in a city fire. In 1617 the current Waag was built and enlarged in 1758. A restaurant has been established since 1971.
