The Great or St. John's Church in Schiedam is a three-aisled hall church, built on the site where a church had already stood in the 13th century. The construction of the current church began in 1335. During the Reformation, the originally Catholic church came into the hands of the Protestants. The church is used by the 'Protestant Community in Schiedam,' which is part of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands.
