Station Schin op Geul

The station buildings built along the Maastricht-Kerkrade railway line, such as those in Schin op Geul, but also those of Voerendaal and Klimmen-Ransdaal and Maastricht, were mostly built by the same architect, George van Heukelom.

The Schin op Geul station building dates back to 1913, when the mining industry gave the construction of railways an enormous boost. In Schin op Geul station, the original wooden benches and panelling in the former waiting area for 1st class can still be admired.
Schin op Geul station is a so-called fork station. The line from Maastricht branches off here in the direction of Kerkrade and in the direction of Simpelveld. On the route Schin op Geul - Simpelveld runs an old steam train, the Miljoenenlijn.
