Withof

Het Withof is a former educational institution and monastery in Etten-Leur in the Dutch province of North Brabant. Since 2005, the complex at Bisschopsmolenstraat 162 has been largely owned by the Etten-Leur Housing Foundation, which is further developing the complex and site.

Educational institution 't Withof, later called monastery 't Withof, was founded in 1820. It started in Huize Adama, which dates from 1580 and was originally built as the residence of the rear admiral of Etten and
Sprundel, Jonkheer Hendrick van den Broeck. The building was expanded many times and equipped with two chapels. In and from the educational institution, various forms of education and upbringing arose in and from the educational institution in the 19th and 20th centuries, including a preservation and village school for the Etten population. In 1826-27 there was also a so-called "outdoor school" where non-wealthy girls were also taught.
