Public Primary School/CSV Ridderhof
In 2008 the CSV Ridderhof was festively opened. The modern and multifunctional building stands on the same spot as the former Public School, which can be seen in the photo from 1960. The Public School was built in 1955 because the old school in the former town hall on Raadhuislaan had become much too small. The new school was built on this side of the Vecht because the new houses of 'Vreeland-west' were built here. For example, the school was located on the edge of the children's new neighborhood. At the beginning of the 20th century, the number of pupils in the public school continued to decline. A few vacant classrooms were then rented to the Christian school, which grew out of its shell a little further on, on the Floraweg. Due to this situation and the necessary major maintenance of both school buildings, it was decided to demolish both school buildings and build a brand new Community School on this site.
Walk back and cross the Van Leerbrug. On the lamppost on the right corner hangs the sign with a historic photo of the bridge.
