Description

The original quarry was in use from 1902 to 1970. Due to the use of brick, the demand for Kunrader stone decreased sharply. The construction of the adjacent A79 also caused the quarry to be closed.
In addition to the quarry, a lime kiln was also in operation at this location. Nowadays, the demand for Kunrader stone is high again, mainly because of necessary restoration work on the houses and religious monuments built with this type of stone.
The quarry has been reopened for a few years and there is a workshop for marl processing.
