The estate takes its name from German workers who lived here at the end of the 18th century and is a
beautiful estate that was designed in 1876 by the landscape architects Copijn and Springer.
They also expanded the former beech maze. This maze with a folly in the shape of a hermit's house in the middle has recently been restored to its former glory and the maze was also replanted according to the historical drawing.
The house was built in 1867, after which the surrounding park was laid out. Special is the undulating character of the terrain. The Utrechts Landschap owns the land.
The Herman van Veen Arts Center has been located in the house for several years.
