The Korpershoek is a grain mill located just west of Schipluiden. A mill at this site was already mentioned in 1541. The mill owes its name to the carp that spawn and release their eggs in this area.
In 1625, a new mill was built on the site that operated until July 21, 1865. After being struck by lightning on that day, the mill was rebuilt. On February 2, 1945, a major fire broke out again, after which it was decided to build the Korpershoek using parts from the mill De Jonge Pieter from Leimuiden. The first stone for the reconstruction was laid on May 13, 1950. The reconstruction was completed on November 10, 1951, and the mill was put back into operation. In 1991, the mill was restored. On a memorial stone in the wall, it reads:
1772 - 1950Fire felled the old millBut the new one turns merrily nowFirst idly in LeimuidenNow I grind for Schipluiden
The text reminds us that the mill currently standing was built in Leimuiden in 1772 and was moved to Schipluiden in 1950.
