The Kleine Schans is a fortification from the Eighty Years' War that is located in Terheijden.
Around 1590, the Spanish army camp Roma was located here, named after an army commander. It housed 200 men. In 1637, the redoubt was built in its current form to protect shipping on the Mark. In 1680 the redoubt fell into disuse, only to be restored and put into use again in 1830, now as a bulwark against the Belgians, due to the Belgian War of Secession. Thus was created the redoubt in its present form.
