Description

North of Lochem is also the Ampsen estate with the castle of the same name. The estate is characterized as a wide forest edge in an open agricultural landscape.
The estate is a varied ensemble of forests, moist heaths and agricultural lands. The two farms and arable lands on the north and northwest sides are largely surrounded by forests, hedgerows or canals.
Most of the agricultural land is farmed organically. The estate is now almost 700 hectares. The oaks and beech avenues are 300 years old. The farmhouses are of the medieval type hall house. The shutters of the farmhouses on the Ampsen estate are blue-white, striped diagonally with a dark green border.
