Al norte de Lochem se encuentra la finca Ampsen con su castillo del mismo nombre. La finca se presenta como un amplio borde de bosque en un paisaje agrícola abierto.
La finca es un conjunto variado de bosques, páramos húmedos y tierras agrícolas. Las dos granjas y tierras de cultivo en el lado norte y noroeste están en su mayoría rodeadas de bosques, setos o alineaciones de árboles.
En la mayor parte de las tierras agrícolas se practica la agricultura orgánica. La finca abarca casi 700 hectáreas en la actualidad. Las avenidas de robles y hayas tienen 300 años de antigüedad. Las granjas son del tipo medieval de casa-halle. Las contraventanas de las granjas en la finca Ampsen son azul y blanca, con rayas diagonales y un borde verde oscuro.
