The Schoolhouse is a stately parish home built in 1877 and completely restored by current owners over a period of 14 years. Unfortunately, many parts of the house were so dilapidated that it has been rebuilt on the inside, but in an old style that suits the house.
'The Schoolhouse' is the name the house has been given over the years. For decades, the headmasters of the Primary School and the Mulo opposite lived in this house. Even after the 2nd World War when the house was divided in two, a schoolteacher still lived there.
The schools have since disappeared, but The Schoolhouse has been restored to its former glory and equipped with all current conveniences. Although Ferwert is not the largest town, there are still all amenities, such as the Spar supermarket, top butcher Schreiber, a bakery and the Pijnacker shop that supplies everything else such as medicines, household items and toys. There is also a bicycle repair shop that also rents bicycles, the Rabobank has a branch, there is a hairdresser, beauty salon, etc..
The nearest restaurant is already an 8-minute (car) drive away, and all larger villages and towns are at distances between 15, 20 and 30 minutes (ato) driving distance.
