The Treeker Wissel ecoduct is an ecopassage that connects the Leusderheide military training area and the Den Treek-Henschoten estate on both sides of the N227.
The provincial road 227 between Amersfoort and Cothen via Doorn is locally called the Doornseweg. For years, this heavily trafficked road was an important barrier for animals that wanted to migrate from the Leusderhei to Den Treek. With the plans for the expansion of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park in a northerly direction, the need for a good connection between Den Treek and the Leusderhei also increased. An enlargement of the National Park by 4,000 hectares was granted on April 16, 2009. its fittings. Incidentally, other large ecoducts, such as the Mollebos ecoduct and the Leusderheide ecoduct, are also part of the system of ecological connections on the middle part of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
