The Ruins of Brederode are the remains of Brederode Castle near Santpoort-Zuid. The castle was founded in the second half of the 13th century by William I of Brederode.
The castle was destroyed and rebuilt several times at the end of the Middle Ages. After 1492 it was no longer inhabited.
In the 19th century, the ruin was one of the first buildings to be restored by order of the state and became the first national monument.
