The Zwarte Ruiter is a former corn mill located at Mr. Jac. Takkade 10 in the Dutch municipality of Aalsmeer, which is now used as a residence.
The mill was built in 1778 as a polder mill for the drainage of the Zwarte or Schinkelpolder, replacing a scoop wheel mill at the Haarlemmermeer. The Zwarte Ruiter was equipped with an internally installed scoop wheel. In 1857, the operation was largely taken over by a large mill slightly further along, which was equipped with a millstone. The Zwarte Ruiter then received six piston pumps, but that turned out to be unsuccessful. In 1866, the mill was sold to be converted into a corn mill. The mill ground grain until 1919. Subsequently, the working machinery, with the exception of the upper wheel, was removed from the mill. After World War II, the sails and tail were removed. In the 1970s, restoration was already being discussed, but it took nearly 30 years before it happened.
