The country estate Het huis te Maarn is an early twentieth-century country estate. The neo-classical mansion and coach house were built in 1915 to a design by architect Jan Stuyt. The landscaping was completed in 1907. At that time, there was only a tea dome on the site of the current house.
The founder of the House in Maarn was W.B. Blijdenstein, who was married to Mrs. A.G. van Heek. As the architect of the house, Jan Stuyt was aware of the developments in America. In terms of appearance, Stuyt's design is reminiscent of The White House in Washington. The garden of the house was designed by P.H. Wattez. The landscaping consists of a symmetrically laid out park, which extends behind and in front of the house. In the placement of the house, the construction of the garden, backdrops and roads, use was made of the location on the slope of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, so that from the higher house you have a view over the garden and the lower grounds.
