The Inntel hotel in Zaandam is a hotel opened in 2010 in Zaandam. It is a striking building because the exterior is entirely made up of a stack of nearly seventy separate Zaanse houses, executed in four shades of Zaan green. The building was designed by Wilfried van Winden.
The distinctive building replaces an earlier hotel in Zaandam from the same operator, which opened in 1986 and was demolished in 2010. The new hotel opened on March 18, 2010, but the first guests were already welcomed on March 12. The hotel was built as part of the Inverdan project that started in 2003. The goal of the project was the restructuring of the Zaanse city center. Other Inverdan buildings, like Inntel Hotels, also feature the traditional Zaanse architecture as a 'gimmick'.
