The Windotter is the name of the round stone wall and برج windmill that was built in 1732 in IJsselstein, province of Utrecht. The mill is located on the southwest side of the city wall of IJsselstein. The mill was originally a forced mill, a mill where the farmers from the surrounding area were obliged to have their grain ground. A tax was also levied through the milling fee.
In 1881, a steam engine was installed in an outbuilding, allowing it to grind even when there was no wind.
The last miller, B. van Woerden, sold the mill in 1918, after which partial demolition of the roof, the working parts, and the wings followed. Until 1978, the mill was used as a residence and storage for fuels. In 1984, the municipality of IJsselstein bought the remaining parts and had the mill restored.
The Windotter is owned by the Foundation 's-Herenkorenmolen in IJsselstein. The mill can be visited on Fridays and Saturdays.
