Bredius Estate, also known as Bredius Park, is a park in the city of Woerden. The park consists of a number of walking and cycling paths, with water features and grassland where fruit trees grow. The park is located on the north side of the city, between the center, Oudelandseweg, and the Painter's Quarter. Originally, the estate was called Batestein, and agriculture and livestock farming were practiced there. To this end, in 1852 a farmhouse, Hofstede Batenstein, was built on the estate by the son of the former mayor of Woerden, Cornelis Jan Bredius, who had inherited it from his father Jacobus Bredius in 1826. Until 1947, the farm remained in the hands of this family. During that time, the municipality of Woerden made plans for the area, and it was expropriated. This only happened in 1970, after which the park was developed into the layout it still has as of 2020.
