In the summer, the Zonneveer operates a ferry service for cyclists and pedestrians across the Nieuwkoopse Plassen. The boat is 100% solar powered and sails whisper-quiet. There is room for up to 12 people and about 8 bicycles.
They depart (at 11, 1 and 15 o'clock) in Noorden from the Loswal at the St. Martinuskerk and for the return trip from the Hollandsche kade in De Meije (at 12, 14 and 16 o'clock). This is a connection between cycle junctions 57 and 83 and takes about an hour. The season normally starts with the weekends in May, and from June 1 every day except Monday. They normally stop around September 15.
The passengers will enjoy the beautiful nature and the tranquility that reigns there. You sail a one-way trip, back or forth. Bird lovers can indulge themselves in the sighting of Curlews, Black Tern, Purple Heron or the imposing Harrier. For plant lovers, the Marsh Orchid and Galican are worth a visit. In short, just under an hour of enjoyment!
The boat is fully owned by the Zonneveer Nieuwkoop Foundation and everything is run entirely by volunteers. The rate is €3 for one person and €1 for a bike.
