The Knokkert is a nature reserve located 2 km southwest of Nieuwvliet, in the Strijdersgatpolder. It measures 27 ha and is owned by Staatsbosbeheer. The name comes from Knockaert, one of the beginnings in the Strijdersgatpolder. It has nothing to do with fighting or struggling, but a knok is a bump, a rise in the land.
