Montessori Lyceum Herman Jordan

The Jordan Montessori Lyceum Utrecht, commonly known as the Jordan, is a secondary school in Zeist, with around 850 students. It offers havo and vwo.

Teaching at the school follows the Montessori system. At the beginning of each school year, students receive a so-called "pensum booklet." This booklet outlines the tasks that need to be completed by the end of the school year for each subject, along with the points awarded for each completed task. Typically, these tasks include tests, chapters, and other assignments. A pensum is a period during which tasks must be finished. Once a task is completed, the teacher of the respective subject confirms this by signing the pensum booklet, thus validating the task. A pensum lasts about eight weeks, and there are four pensums per year. After each pensum, there is a catch-up week during which you can complete any outstanding work. During this week, you may schedule your hours freely. After each pensum, a student's performance is recorded in a 'report.' This report details the amount of work the student has completed, how it was assessed, and potentially a brief commentary from each teacher.
