The Radio and Television Tower Roermond is a tower with a transmission mast in the Dutch municipality of Roermond for broadcasting radio and television signals, data storage, and telecommunications. The first television transmitter was put into operation on September 1, 1958. The opening ceremony was held on October 14, 1958, conducted by the mayor of Roermond, Robert Geuljans, instead of the Limburg governor who was prevented by tragic family circumstances. The tower including the mast has a height of 157 meters. The tower is made of reinforced concrete. It stands on the Meuleberg in the Roer-Zuid district. The tower is of the same type as the one in Markelo and partly of the same type as those in IJsselstein and Smilde.
