Next to the Dutch Reformed Chapel, built in 1906 on the site of a medieval predecessor, begins the avenue leading in a straight line to Heeze Castle. Strategically located at the point where the Grote Aa and Sterkselse Aa meet, it is surrounded by a moat on three sides. The basic design of the symmetrical building is by the renowned 17th-century master builder Pieter Post. It was intended as the outer courtyard of a castle that was to be built on the site where the remnants of the 14th-century Eymerick Castle lie. The castle and park include a dovecote and a real ice cellar.
