The Amerongse Berg is the biggest climb for cyclists. From the south, the slope is more than 2 km long with two hills in a row at the top. The first slope of 1200 meters rises by an average of 3% and contains 100 meters to 5%. The slope of the second hill rises by 6% just before the summit. You will cover a total of 52 altimeters.
From the north, the ascent of the Amerongse Berg is approximately 1400 meters long, of which 800 meters rises by an average of 6%. According to experts, the north side is the toughest climb of the Heuvelrug. The Mountain Road has no point of recovery. You will cover a total of 55 altimeters. In short, a real calf biter! During the descent in Amerongen, watch out for the speed bumps!!
The Amerongse Berg is a hill in the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug and is with a height of 69.2 meters above sea level the highest point of the province of Utrecht. The hill is located northeast of Amerongen in the Amerongse Bos, one of the oldest forests on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Most of the forests on the ridge are no older than a century, in the Amerong Forest some Scots pines date from 1770. The forest was created as a hunting ground for the lords of the castle lords of the castle Amerongen located in the Amerongse Bovenpolder.
