The ter Huurne Hollandmarkt is located on Dutch territory and is subject to Dutch legislation. The excise taxes are imposed according to Dutch law and differ in some points from those in Germany. For example, in Germany there is the coffee tax and deposit on cans, in contrast to the Netherlands. Therefore, the differences in our Dutch market compared to German providers are considerable.
On the German side of the site (20 meters footpath over the terrace) is ter Huurne's "Spirits Shop." This spirits shop sells, in addition to strong alcoholic beverages, tobacco products. Here, German excise tax applies. The result is a price advantage for ter Huurne's Dutch customers in the above-mentioned product groups.
