The IJsselstein forest near Utrecht is a young polder forest, with tall poplars and alders, oaks, and ashes. Shrubs providing shelter make it an attractive area for birds. In 2016, the area of the forest doubled; it is now approximately 50 hectares in size. In this new section of the forest, you will find stately avenues of elm and lime trees. You will also find a pick-your-own fruit orchard, where you can pick an apple or collect nuts in the autumn. You can walk over a boardwalk across a pond. The last trees were planted in April 2016. This has made the IJsselstein forest richer by 50,000 trees! With its many avenues and winding paths, the IJsselstein forest invites you for a long walk. Your dog can join you.
