Oss is a city in the Dutch province of North Brabant, located between 's-Hertogenbosch and Nijmegen. It is the capital of the municipality of Oss. The city plays a regional role as a work, residential, and shopping city. The city is surrounded by various landscapes and is geologically situated at the edge of higher, dry sandy soils and lower, wet clay soils, with the Maas River nearby. Although Oss has a rich history - in the past, it was the capital of the Quarter of Maasland of the Meierij of 's-Hertogenbosch - few remnants of the past have been preserved. However, there are still a number of monuments that testify to its industrial past.
