Haghorst is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant with 823 inhabitants. Haghorst is a reclamation village, located on the Wilhelmina Canal, and forms one of the six core areas of the municipality of Hilvarenbeek.
Haghorst is a reclamation village that has gradually grown as large-scale reclamation of wastelands took place. Around 1918, attempts were made to establish agricultural businesses in De Opslag and De Drie Huizen on the Beerse Heide. However, these attempts did not lead to much success, as the wrong agricultural methods were used. New reclamation workers arrived in 1928 and were more successful. They came from Gilze and were able to employ the correct agricultural techniques. Meanwhile, the Wilhelmina Canal was completed in 1923. These developments resulted in the establishment of a settlement by the lock, which was connected to the outside world via a paved road in 1930.
