Tienhoven is a village in the Dutch province of Utrecht. The village has a population of 1,755.
A piece of land, large ten hooves, was sold in 1243 by Herman van Maarssen to the chapter of Saint Peter in Utrecht. As a result, the chapter became the owner of the court Tienhoven. The chapter sold its rights to the Ploos van Amstel family in 1621. Already in the Middle Ages there was a chapel in Tienhoven, but Tienhoven never became an independent parish. Only after the Reformation did it become an independent ecclesiastical congregation with the appointment of a minister in 1604. This municipality also included the inhabitants of Maarsseveen and Breukeleveen.
