Marina Seaport IJmuiden is the marina of IJmuiden and is located in the recreational area of IJmuiden aan Zee. Construction began on April 7, 1993, and the festive opening took place on June 3, 1994.
The marina is located outside the locks, at the mouth of the North Sea Canal. This allows ships to sail in and out of the harbor to and from the North Sea without being locked. The Hiswa te Water was held every year in September at Marina Seaport IJmuiden until 2011. From 2012, it takes place at the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam. The marina was developed by Willem Smit and René Coltof and later taken over by the Amsterdam real estate dealer Willem Endstra, who was murdered in 2004.
