Cemetery Voorburg

The General Cemetery at the corner of Parkweg - Einddorpsstraat was established in 1874 according to a main design from 1872 by architect J. Paul from Zevenhuizen. Municipal supervisor M.A. de Zwart created the specific layout plan based on this design. The central part of the gatehouse and the gravedigger's house date from the year of construction and are designed in eclectic style. The gatehouse is based on classicism, while the house is primarily inspired by the Dutch Renaissance. The side wings of the gatehouse were added later.
The gatehouse consists of a single story with a passageway to the cemetery. It is topped with a pediment. In the center of this are death symbols such as a butterfly, an hourglass, and scythes.
The house is situated to the right of the gatehouse. The building has a picturesque appearance due to the combination of two colors of brick. With gray-blue bricks, not only are specked layers imitated, but also corner pilasters. Additionally, in the facade (Parkweg side), in the space between the window and the gray-blue relieving arch, there is a shell motif. Like the decorative wrought-iron anchors, these elements refer to the Dutch Renaissance. The eaves, the brackets supporting the roof overhang and the gutters, and elements such as the gable are all made of wood and are also fanciful reinterpretations of the Renaissance.

At the cemetery is the memorial for the bombing in Bezuidenhout in The Hague. This is a memorial wall with a plaque of black natural stone with text, placed on a collective grave.
In front of the memorial wall, a sculpture of two figures crouching is installed.
