The Aa-broeken nature reserve

The Aa trousers are a relic of the former stream valley landscape of the river Aa. The area consists of grasslands, interspersed with hedgerows, moist deciduous and swamp forests and swamp zones. In the 1930s, a municipal ice rink was built as part of the employment scheme.

The municipality of Veghel has currently determined that the Aa-broeken should become a special nature reserve. With the purchase of 10 ha. agricultural land, the construction of the A50 motorway in this area will be compensated. As part of Masterplan de Aa, this area will be developed into natural flowery grassland, swamp and swamp forest. With the help of hiking and clubbing trails, the area is suitable for recreation. By keeping the biotope wet in the nature reserve, the original flora and fauna will be given a new chance.
