Café de Kup, one of the oldest if not the oldest brown pub in Sittard. Already in 1873, the café was established in the historic building, albeit then still under the name "De Sjprunk."
You may wonder, "De Kup," where does that name come from? Well, this name was given to the café by former footballer and ex-international Gerard Kuppen. Gerard came as a star from Rotterdam to Limburg to play football, and he was even presented on a cart through Sittard at the time.
For many years, Gerard and Kitty managed the café and thus used an abbreviation of his name as the name for the café.
A café with history, where Toon Hermans regularly had a cup of coffee, and there are still several nice images of him adorning the wall. The café breathes history and showcases an enormous amount of hospitality through the current owners Marga and Arno.
A typical Brand café, also offering various specialty beers on draft and in bottles. Brand, once again crowned the best beer in the Netherlands this year! But also, as guests express it, "a deliciously dressed cup of coffee" should not be missed during your visit. Of course, you can enjoy a delicious piece of Limburg vlaai, baked at the Ophoven mill by people with disabilities.
Café de Kup, a social meeting place, traditionally a "Vastelaoves café," and also a place where the local pride Fortuna Sittard and other sporting events are regularly shown on the big screen.
In short: plenty of reason for a visit, and Arno and Marga warmly welcome you!
See you soon!
