Wissenkerke - Keihoogteweg - Birdwatching point

A lookout point has been established at Keihoogteweg. Here you have a magnificent view of the dike leading to the beach and the polder. The lookout point is located in the Oosterschelde National Park.

Because the Oosterschelde has long been a river arm, it was for a long time an area with both fresh and salt water (until 1867). The Oosterschelde has a unique flora and fauna. The seals and porpoises, which are seen regularly, are well known. The underwater life is particularly popular among recreational divers. At low tide, the mudflats and plates dry out, where many birds find their food. Behind the dikes, one can find mudflats, inlays, and creek areas as visible reminders of the area's history. Underwater, but also at the bottom of the dams, many unique plants and animals have found their place, such as feather duster worms, sea anemones, Irish moss, and sea cucumbers.
