Protestant church of the North - painting J. H. Wijsmuller

Behind pension Verzijden, Jan Wijsmuller found a beautiful place to capture a traditional Dutch scene. Seated on a folding chair behind a low donkey, he looked out over a puddle created by centuries of peat cutting with a jagged bank lined by reeds and on the horizon the small, simple Protestant church of North, with some farms and trees around it. On the right in the photo, the church path runs right through the lake, so that churchgoers from the southern part of the village did not have to make a big detour. Now we look at him and the view that he immortalized for us in different ways.
