Dietro il pensione Verzijden, Jan Wijsmuller trovò un bellissimo luogo per catturare un'immagine tipicamente olandese. Seduto su una sedia pieghevole dietro un basso cavalletto, guardava su una pozzanghera formata da secoli di estrazione di torba, con una riva irregolare contornata da canne e all'orizzonte la piccola e semplice chiesa protestante di Noorden, circondata da alcune fattorie e alberi. A destra nella foto, il sentiero della chiesa attraversa la pozzanghera, permettendo ai parrocchiani della parte sud del villaggio di non dover fare un lungo giro. Ora guardiamo a lui e al paesaggio che ha immortalato per noi in vari modi.
