Doornspijk (Nedersaksisch: Doospiek) is a village in the Dutch province Gelderland. Doornspijk has been part of the municipality of Elburg since 1974. Until that time, it was an independent municipality. The number of inhabitants was 4,260 in 2021 according to the CBS.[1]
Doornspijk has several different landscape types. The village is located in a predominantly agricultural meadow landscape. Just to the south lies the Doornspijk heath with sand drifting De Zoom[2] and forest area De Haere. In the northwest is the old Zuiderzee coast, now the Veluwemeer. Part of this coast houses private holiday accommodations that will eventually disappear in favor of nature. Near Doornspijk, rare water birds, such as cranes and flamingos, are regularly spotted at the Veluwemeer.[3]
