Mastbos

The Mastbos, established more than 500 years ago by Hendrik III of Nassau, is also known as the ‘backyard of Breda’. You can walk straight into the forest from the Ginneken district. Majestic beech avenues, vast heathlands, dark coniferous forests, and beautiful ponds alternate with one another. Locals from Breda, as well as many nature seekers from outside the area, use the forest for walking and cycling, exercising and relaxing, or simply to enjoy nature. Staatsbosbeheer has laid out various walking routes, including a Sniffing Route for walking with dogs. For the tiniest ones, there’s the Gnome Path.
