Monastic hotel Zin

The Fraters of Tilburg purchased Huize Steenwijk at Boxtelseweg 58-60 in Vught in 1902 to establish a retirement home for older and ailing fraters. The house dates back to 1840. It would become the basis for three monasteries: the Fraterhuis H. Joachim, Huize Emanuelle, and the Community Eleousa.
The fraters played a significant role in education. They founded schools, taught classes, and developed teaching methods. They taught not only in Brabant but also overseas, such as in Suriname. In the 1960s, the fraters were joined by the Sisters of Love.
In the 1990s, there were initial plans to demolish the buildings. Thanks to ambitious plans from entrepreneurs, a conference center with a hotel has been established. Kloosterhotel ZIN focuses on peace and meditation. The fraters reside in the Community Eleousa on the premises. Tip: also check out the cemetery.
